Beach in Vizag is an impressive and scenic example of coast geology. Stretched around 24 kilometers starting from coastal battery on the south side it extends upto Bhimili a Dutch settlement of old times. A walk along the long golden stretches of sand is a glorious experience. The waves beckon and lure you to join the sea and reach out to the horizon beyond. The evening sun, soft and luminous in its gaze upon the blushing sky, evan ascent in its glory, slides into the blue depths of the sea. As night descends, illuminated ships sail in the distance, under a canopy of stars. The sea, with all its turbulence, brings tranquility. Its passion and beauty are things words cannot capture.
Do's and Don'ts
Walking as we know is the simplest form of physical activity. But little do we realize that incorrect walking posture and pattern stands to be the biggest cause of pains and aches in the lower limb and back. Again, if we take up walking without giving a thought to appropriate clothing and without realizing the need for regular hydration, we actually land up in trouble sooner or later.

Wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing.
Dress according to the weather conditions.
Wear lightweight, properly fitting shoes with good cushioning in the heel to minimize pressure on the foot joints.
About the Activity
Do you want a quick way to lose more calories while walking? Consider taking a walk on the beach (or even on grass).

As you will see, a walk on the beach engages our feet, ankles, legs and even our torso in a host of powerful ways that act together to slim us down, strengthen muscles; improve balance, stability and “body awareness,” and of course, provide us with other awesome mental and spiritual benefits.
Research on walking on the beach (or sand) shows that it is just about the best place humans can walk. Walking on the beach offers a huge number of health and fitness benefits, and beaches boosts the benefits of walking more than any other sport—even surpassing running!. Nearly all scientific research on walking on sand has proven that we burn more calories when walking on sand.
Belgium researchers found:
“Walking on sand requires 1.6–2.5 times more mechanical work than does walking on a hard surface…”

What Makes Walking on Sand Burn So Many More Calories?
We know from research that when we walk on a solid surface we use a “pendular” motion where 60% of mechanical energy is recovered from a potential-kinetic mechanism that occurs with each step we take. On soft surfaces, such as sand, we can only recovery 45% of this potential/kinetic energy.
Essentially, when walking on a hard surface, the work our muscles do are not lost to the surface and this energy can continue to be used by our body as we walk. The more the sand compresses (or yields) the more energy our body loses and the more work our muscles need to do. The result is we burn fat faster and lose weight quicker.

A Hidden Benefit (and Risk) of Walking On The Beach (or Grass)
In addition to burning more calories when walking on soft, pliable surfaces, due to the unevenness of these terrains our feet, ankles and legs our muscles work harder to stay balanced. The subtle tilts of the grass or sand or these surfaces irregularities, forces us to engage many muscles more forcefully than we would routinely.
On the beach there is a continual need to quickly adjust our foot, ankle and lower leg to the shifting sand granules. This forces us to become more aware of our feet and HOW we are walking.
Awareness of our own body is powerful and it is something most of us lose with age. By becoming more aware of how you are walking and moving, you lessen the chance of injury and allow yourself the opportunity to better control how you move and walk.
Awareness of our body, or what scientists often call proprioception or kinesthesia, is the critical interface between our mind and body. The mind-body connection can help us prevent injury, improve how we move and walk, and even lessen muscle and joint pain. It is a core principle of FloWalking.

Most people will recognize that the effects on your mood might be the most winning element on the list.
You simply feel more refreshed when you’re breathing in that sea air, watching the sun setting on the horizon and seeing the birds flying down the coast. If there’s any better medicine for the soul, I haven’t found it.

Let The Waves Trick You Into Walking More
Walking on sand – especially on a beautiful beach – will trick your mind into believing you’re not exercising at all. As you listen to the soft, lapping waves and eye the distant horizon, the exertion of walking will feel less than it truly is.
This way of thinking allows you to walk longer distances without realizing it and work harder than you believe you are. This idea was proven in research that compared walking on a treadmill to outdoors.
